Titan girl bowler set record in match versus Serra Catholic

The West Mifflin High School hosted Serra Catholic high school on Friday Jan. 28th at Coral Lanes.

The Girls Varsity team improved its section record to 5-2 with a record setting performance by junior Becky Harmening. In the 20 yrs of the West Mifflin High School Bowling team Becky became the 1st girls bowler to crack the 700 barrier with games of 197-246-269/712 to set the all-time girl record. With the record setting performance the Lady Titans rolled to a 7-0 win. The team is comprised of Senior Captain Kayla Swiech, Liz Morrison, Brittany Morrison, Stephanie Mittenzwey, Victoria Hawthorne and Becky Harmening.

The 1st game went to the Lady Titans 781-648. Highs for Serra Catholic was Sarah Schindler with a 204. Game 2 went to the Lady Titans 817-610. Becky Harmenings 246 led the Lady Titans. Topping Serra was Sarah Schindler with a201. The Titans completed the sweep taking game 3, 834-586. Becky Harmening with a sizzling 269 topped the scoring for the Ladies. Serra was led by Sarah Schinder 182.

The boys squad rolled to a victory over Serra Catholic 907-825, 970-951 and 992-780. Total pins West Mifflin 2869 – Serra. 2556. In game one Justin Hoffman topped the scoring with a 220game. Bob Kish led Serra with a 189. In game two West Mifflin Captain Tom Forster tossed a 198, Alex Houston 209 and Bob Netherton threw a 236. Serra Highs highs were Zach Mullins 214, Greg Maranowski 247 and Bob Kish 223 . Alex Houston led the way in game three with a 234 and Tom Forster 204. Greg Maranowski tossed a 177 to lead Serra. Alex Houston finished the day with a 632. Greg Maranowski lead Serra Catholic with a 593. The boys varsity with the win moved to 5-2 to move into 2nd place behind Baldwin in the Central section of the WPIBL.

The girls JV beat Serra Catholic by a score of 7-0. Victoria Hawthorne led WM with 114.

The boys JV squad won over Serra Catholic by a score of 7-0. Highs for the junior Titans were Jon Moody 176, Brandon Gloeckl 199, Jon Schmidt 178, Jeff Czarnecki 159, Brian Philips 187 and Nate Missig 174..
